Fontana Arte is an Italian design company, founded in 1881 by Luigi Fontana & C. in Milan.
The company is recognized for its mastery in glasswork and the creation of iconic lighting and furniture pieces.
- In 1906, the company participated in the Milan International Exposition.
- In 1910, it was acquired by the French company Saint-Gobain.
- In 1932, under the artistic direction of Gio Ponti and in collaboration with Luigi Fontana, the Fontana Arte brand was born.
- In 1933, Pietro Chiesa took over as artistic director until 1954, after which he was succeeded by Max Ingrand, a prominent French master glassmaker, who was characterized by his use of opaline glass.
